Medicine has come a long way over the last half century. Well-funded research has led to countless new breakthroughs and improvements in care for many different diseases.

Yet, advances in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness have often lagged behind — especially for vulnerable young people.

It doesn’t have to be this way. Together, we can drive positive change for new generations of Canadian children and youth.

Since 2015, Reasons for Hope has brought together members of Toronto’s business and academic communities to raise more than $10 million to advance child and youth mental health research via the world-renowned University of Toronto Department of Psychiatry.

Leveraging U of T’s position at the heart of the Toronto Academic Health Science Network, every dollar Reasons for Hope raises is directed to the most promising investigations across Toronto’s top teaching hospitals, their research institutes and additional community health care sites. This ensures funding flows to the highest-priority projects, no matter where they are based — maximizing our impact.
